Founded in 1897, Tomatin only really got going a decade later in 1909. From there it slowly but surely grew, adding more stills until it hit a colossal 23 in 1974, making it the largest distillery in Scotland with a notional capacity of 10 million litres per annum.
Unfortunately the downturn of the 1970s hit Tomatin hard and it didn't get the chance to hit its maximum capacity. By 1986 it had closed. However, Japanese investors stepped in and saved the distillery, and has been rebuilding both its reputation and production ever since.
Now well known for its excellent single malts, Tomatin is back on top and growing. We look forward to seeing what treats they bring to the show.
